Disappointment

Disappointment is an interesting feeling.  It can invoke all kinds of emotions in the individual that is receiving the criticism, anger, sadness, guilt, etc.  But, nothing is worse than when you are disappointed in yourself.  The comment may have not been made by you, but the feeling it invokes can be overwhelming.  For instance, I didn't do something I was suppose to do, because it slipped my mind.  Yet, the feeling of guild and disappointment lingers after an hour of hearing it.

Why, as humans, do we think that making someone feel bad fixes the problem?  In my case, after the guilt and disappointment has passed all I feel is resentment to the party who made the comment.  Does it really make sense to have someone dislike you?  I try to get though life accepting people for who they are, but is tough to accept someone if all they do is try to find ways of picking at you or on you.
